FORT COLLINS, Colorado - Utah State women's tennis began its fall tournament season at the Jon Messick Invitational hosted by Colorado State. The Aggies faced teams from CSU, Wyoming, Utah, Weber State, Montana State, New Mexico State, Air Force and Chicago.
 
The Aggies posted a total of six doubles and seven singles victories for the weekend. Freshman Terezia Mlkva and sophomore Natalie Paterova won their doubles draw, defeating Weber State's Savannah and Naomi Johnson, 6-2, and Air Force's Alba Martinez and Joselyn Limbago, 6-4, to win the draw. Sophomores Maria Paula Ramos Garcia and Kylee Sperry also won a pair of doubles matches, defeating Colorado State's Luana Avelar and Stella Morgan, 6-1, before registering a 6-4 win over Chicago's Lauren Khou and Clara Zou. Senior Olivia Halvorsen and junior Magdalena Nunez Pureco defeated New Mexico State's Montana Parkinson-Lubold and Dora Kurdi, 6-3, for USU's final doubles win of the weekend.
 
In singles play, Ramos Garcia and Nunez Pureco each recorded a pair of wins. Ramos Garcia defeating Utah's Andjelija Markovic, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4), and Chicago's Isabella Chong, 6-3, 7-5, while Nunez Pureco won against NMSU's Mariella Gelbke, 6-3, 6-3, and against Air Force's Jariahlyn Rhoades in a one-set match, 8-6. Mlkva defeated Montana State's Angel Bean, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (3), 6-4, and won by retirement to reach the finals of her singles draw. Sperry earned a one-set singles win over Chicago's Riya Singh, 6-3.
