LOGAN, Utah — Utah State track and field student-athletes collected a pair of Mountain West weekly honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Sophomore
Ayodele Ojo, Jr. won MW Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors and freshman
Sally Roos claimed MW Women's Freshman of the Week accolades.
Ojo broke the Utah State and MW records in the men's 60 meters at the Idaho State-hosted Snake River Open last weekend, winning the competition with a time of 6.55. His time ranks tied for third in the nation so far this season, and he ranks seventh in the world and second among all Americans in calendar year 2026. Ojo also topped the prelims with a time of 6.62, which moved him from third to second in Aggie history in the event, before breaking All-American Nic Bowens's 2014 record time of 6.61 in the final.
Roos finished third, her best career individual finish, with a time of 2:13.75 in the 800 meters at the Snake River Open on Friday. Her 800-meter time, adjusted to 2:13.12 for altitude, ranks fifth in the MW and best among MW freshmen as well as 18th-best among freshmen nationally.
Ojo earned his third career MW weekly award and second this season, having previously earned the accolades on Dec. 16. Roos claimed her first career MW weekly honor. Utah State student-athletes have claimed a total of nine MW weekly awards so far in 2025-26, the program's second-most during an indoor season behind only the 10 honors earned in 2024-25.
Utah State will split its squad this weekend at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station, Texas, on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 23-24.
