Gymnastics Competes at Oregon State Sunday Afternoon

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State (4-1) continues its 2026 season on Sunday, Jan. 25, as it competes at future Pac-12 foe and 26th-ranked Oregon State (1-4) at 2 p.m. (MT). USU is ranked 23rd in the nation in this week's Road to Nationals Poll.

Utah State will begin the meet on bars and Oregon State will start on vault. The meet will be streamed live on Pac-12 Insider and live scoring will be available via Virtius.

UTAH STATE NOTES
Utah State ranks first in the Mountain West and 23rd in the nation heading into the third weekend of competition with an average team score of 195.763. USU ranks first in the MW and 19th in the nation on bars (48.963), first in the MW and 20th in the nation on beam (48.925), first in the MW and 32nd in the nation on floor (48.950), and second in the MW and 27th in the nation on vault (48.925).

Individually, sophomore Olivia Orengo ranks second in the MW and 40th in the nation in the all-around (39.100), and third in the MW and 95th in the nation on bars (9.813). Junior Mya Witte ranks second in the MW on beam (9.800). Freshman Anabelle Dewey ranks fourth in the MW on floor (9.825). Senior Chelsea Southam ranks sixth in the MW on vault (9.787).

MOUNTAIN WEST HONORS
Utah State had two gymnasts earn weekly Mountain West honors following performances against Southern Utah last weekend as junior Nyla Morabito was named the MW Beam Co-Specialist of the Week, and freshman Anabelle Dewey was named the MW Co-Freshman of the Week.

Morabito placed second on beam with a career-high 9.850 to earn her first-career MW Beam Specialist of the Week honor. It is her 10th career conference honor.

Dewey won her first-career title as she placed first on floor with a career-high 9.825 and tied for fourth on vault with a career-high 9.775. Dewey is the fourth Aggie in program history to garner MW Freshman of the Week accolades.

LAST TIME OUT
No. 23 Utah State gymnastics won three event titles and defeated Mountain West-foe San José State 195.050-194.675 Friday night inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Utah State improved to 4-1 on the season with the win, including 1-0 in MW competition, which is the best start to a season since the 2022 club also began the year with a 4-1 record.

Utah State began the meet on the vault and scored 48.925, followed by 48.925 on bars, 48.200 on beam and a season-high-tying 49.000 on floor. San José State scored 48.825 on vault, 48.400 on bars, 48.750 on beam and 48.700 on floor.

Junior Isabella Vater took top honors on floor (9.875), while junior Sydney Jelen tied for first on bars (9.850) with San José State's Samantha Macasu. Jelen also tied for first on beam (9.825) with sophomore teammate Kaylie Medrano (9.825). Overall, Utah State posted five career-high and four more season-high scores during the meet.

SCOUTING OREGON STATE
Oregon State is ranked 26th in the nation heading into the third weekend of competition with an average team score of 195.483. OSU ranks 16th in the nation on beam (48.975), 21st in the nation on floor (49.075), 26th in the nation on bars (48.900), and 52nd in the nation on vault (48.533).

Individually, junior Sophia Esposito ranks fourth in the nation in the all-around (39.500), 12th in the nation on bars (9.900), and 55th in the nation on vault (9.833). Junior Olivia Buckner ranks 34th in the nation on floor (9.875). Senior Lauren Letzsch ranks 53rd in the nation on beam (9.842).

SERIES HISTORY
Oregon State leads the all-time series against Utah State, 18-1, which includes a 4-1 home record. OSU has won four straight matchups in the series including a 196.950-195.950 neutral site win a year ago.

NEXT UP
Utah State travels to Boise, Idaho, on Friday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m., to compete in the Boise State-hosted Quad Meet along with Mountain West-foes Boise State and Air Force, and Sacramento State.
