SALT LAKE CITY- Utah State women's tennis earned a 5-2 victory over Montana in a neutral court match on Thursday evening at Eccles Tennis Center. The Aggies improved to 2-0 to begin the season for the first time since 2020.
 
Doubles 
Doubles play began with a tandem of runaway victories for either side. USU answered a Grizzlies victory at the No. 1 position with a 6-0 win by sophomores Natalie Paterova and Maria Paula Ramos Garcia at the third position. With the doubles point coming down to the No. 2 position, the match came down to a much closer finish with freshmen Terezia Mlkva and Sabina Pintea pulling through for a 7-5 victory to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead for the match.

Singles 
Utah State maintained momentum into singles play as straight-set victories at courts two, six, four and five swiftly secured the Aggie win. Pintea was the first Aggie across the finish line with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Montana's Meghna Anand at the second position. Freshman Nadine Abid, making her collegiate debut, put USU up, 3-0, with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles over UM's Shivika Agrawal. Freshman Chahd Tourkhani then delivered the clinching point with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Kamila Slovakova at the fourth position. Ramos Garcia further cemented the win at court five with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Montana's Paige Bott. The Grizzlies clawed back a pair of points after the win was clinched, earning a pair of third-set tiebreaker victories at the first and third positions.
