BOISE, Idaho – Utah State gymnastics scored a 195.350 to win the Boise State Quad Meet held here inside ExtraMile Arena Friday night. With the victory, USU improves to 7-2 on the season, including a 3-0 mark in Mountain West action.
Boise State finished second with 195.250, followed by Air Force in third with 194.225 and Sacramento State placing fourth with 193.425.
This is the best start to a season for Utah State since the 1999 squad started with an 11-1 record. Overall, it is tied for the seventh-best start to a season in program history.
Utah State posted three career-high and two more season-high scores on the night.
Junior Nyla Morabito led Utah State with a pair of titles as she tied for first on beam with 9.825 and tied for first on vault with 9.800. Morabito has now won four titles this year with three on vault and one on beam. For her career, she has 13 titles with six on floor, six on vault and one on beam.
Sophomore Olivia Orengo competed in the all-around for the third time this season and finished third in the meet with 39.000.
Utah State began the meet on the bars and scored 48.725, followed by 48.625 on beam, a season-high 49.300 on floor and 48.700 on vault. Boise State scored 48.750 on vault, 48.675 on bars, 48.750 on beam and 49.075 on floor. Air Force scored 48.625 on vault, 48.200 on bars, 48.475 on beam and 48.925 on floor. Sacramento State scored 48.225 on vault, 48.550 on bars, 48.550 on beam and 48.100 on floor.

Rotation One – Bars (48.725)
Utah State began the meet on bars and scored 48.725. Orengo paced Utah State here with a season-high-tying 9.850 to place second. Junior Sydney Jelen led off the rotation with 9.750 and sophomore Lundyn VanderToolen finished the rotation with 9.750. Senior Avery Bibbey scored 9.700 and freshman Charley Laufer scored 9.675.

Moving to beam for its second rotation, Utah State scored 48.625. Morabito led USU on this event with 9.825 to tie for first. Junior Mya Witte scored 9.800. Freshman Kaylie Medrano scored 9.750. Freshman Alianna Valdez scored 9.650. Orengo scored 9.600 and Jelen scored 9.575.

Rotation Three– Floor (49.300)
Once again, Utah State shined on floor and scored a season-best 49.300 on the event as the three Aggies notched career-highs and another a season-high. Orengo began the rotation with a season-high 9.850 and freshman Sienna Yelle followed with a career-high 9.850. Senior Chelsea Southam followed with a career-high-tying 9.875 and freshman Anabelle Dewey added a career-high of her own with 9.875. Junior Isabella Vater finished the rotation with 9.850. Southam and Dewey tied for second on the event with their scores.
