LOGAN, Utah — Utah State track and field freshman
David Konan was named Mountain West Men's Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Konan won his first career title in the 60 meters and finished second in the 200 meters at the Montana State-hosted Carignan Classic on Friday. Konan's winning 60-meter time of 6.72 ranks fifth-fastest in the MW and fastest among all conference freshmen so far this season. The Corner Canyon HS product moved into sixth place in USU history in the event. In the 200 meters, Konan's time of 21.69 ranks sixth among MW freshmen, and he is one of only three freshmen to rank in the conference's top-25 in both the 60 and 200 meters.
Konan earned his first career MW weekly award. Utah State student-athletes have claimed a total of 12 MW weekly awards so far in 2025-26, the most in program history and the second-straight indoor season with at least 10 awards earned.
Utah State will split its squad four ways for the final weekend of the regular season on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14. Aggie athletes will compete at the Arkansas-hosted Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the New Mexico-hosted Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Idaho State-hosted Mountain State Games in Pocatello, Idaho, and the Washington-hosted Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington.
