SAN JOSE, Calif. – Utah State gymnastics won three event titles and scored 195.675 at Mountain West-foe San José State here Sunday afternoon inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. The Spartans won the meet with a season-high 196.350.
Utah State is now 11-4 on the season, including a 3-2 Mountain West mark, while San José State improves to 9-1 overall and 2-1 in the MW.
Utah State began the meet on the bars and scored 48.950, followed by 48.725 on vault, 48.925 on floor and 49.075 on beam, which is its second-highest score of the season on the event. San José State scored 48.900 on vault, 49.175 on bars, 49.225 on beam and 49.050 on floor.
Junior Mya Witte won her first-career title with a career-high 9.900 on beam. Sophomore Olivia Orengo and fellow sophomore Lundyn VanderToolen tied for first on bars with scores of 9.900. Freshman Anabelle Dewey tied for first on floor with 9.850.
For Orengo, it is her first title this year and the second of her career, both of which have come on bars. VanderToolen also won her first title this season and second of her career, both being bars titles. Dewey won her second title this year, both being on floor.
Overall, Utah State posted three career-high and four more season-high scores during the meet.
Rotation One – Bars (48.950)
Utah State opened the meet with 48.950 on bars. Junior Sydney Jelen began the competition with 9.825 and senior Avery Bibbey followed with a season-high-tying 9.800. Orengo then posted a career-high 9.900 and VanderToolen followed with 9.900 of her own, which is a season-high. Orengo and VanderToolen tied for first on the event. Freshman Charley Laufer posted 9.525 and junior Isabella Vater concluded the rotation with 9.175.

Rotation Two – Vault (48.725)
Utah State moved to vault for its second rotation and posted 48.725. Junior Nyla Morabito led the Aggies in this rotation with a 9.825 in the anchor spot to tie for second on the event. Junior Mya Witte began vault with 9.725 and VanderToolen followed with a season-high-tying 9.750. Freshman Anabelle Dewey then scored 9.700 and fellow freshman Alianna Valdez scored 9.725. Senior Chelsea Southam posted 9.625.

Rotation Three– Floor (48.925)
Moving to floor for its third rotation, Utah State scored 48.925. Dewey led the Aggies with 9.850 to tie for first. Orengo began the rotation with 9.800 and freshman Sienna Yelle scored 9.525. Southam scored 9.775, Vater scored 9.700 and freshman Mara Gruber posted 9.800 in the anchor spot.

Utah State finished the competition with its second-highest beam score of the season of 49.075. Witte highlighted this event for the Aggies as she posted a career-high 9.900 in the anchor spot to win her first-career beam title. Jelen began the rotation with 9.825, followed by a career-high 9.850 from Orengo. Sophomore Kaylie Medrano followed with a season-high-tying 9.825. Valdez scored 9.675 and Laufer posted 9.550.
