LOGAN, Utah – Utah State gymnastics scored a 195.875 to win its own quad meet held here inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum Monday night. USU won three of the four event titles as it notched four career-high and two more season-high scores.
With the victory, USU improves to 11-3 on the season, which is the best start to a season since the 1999 squad opened its campaign with a 12-2 record. Overall, USU's 11-3 record is tied for the third-best start to a season in program history.
Freshman Mara Gruber won the floor title with a career-high 9.900. Junior Sydney Jelen shared the beam title with a career-high-tying 9.875. Junior Nyla Morabito won the vault title with a career-high-tying 9.850.
Morabito has now won six titles this year with five on vault and one on beam. Her five vault titles are tied for the seventh most in a single season in program history. For her career, she now has 15 titles with eight on vault, six on floor and one on beam. Her eight career vault titles are the seventh most in school history.
Jelen won her third title this year as she now has two beam titles and one bar title. For her career, Jelen has four titles with three on beam and one on bar.
Gruber won her first-career title.
Utah State began the meet on the vault and scored 48.725, followed by a season-high 49.150 on bars, a 48.825 on beam and 49.175 on floor. Southern Utah started on bars and scored 49.150, followed by 48.625 on beam, 49.050 on floor and 48.700 on vault. Sacramento State started on beam and scored 47.100, followed by 48.475 on floor, 48.075 on vault and 47.425 on bars. Alaska started on floor and scored 47.250, followed by 46.150 on vault, 47.300 on bars and 47.550 on beam.

"I'm incredibly proud of our women tonight. Friday was a tough loss for us. We got back into the gym yesterday and broke everything down. We wanted to focus on the details, but most importantly, we wanted to have fun tonight. We had a great competition and came out with the win."
Rotation One – Vault (48.725)
Utah State began the meet on vault and scored 48.725. Morabito led USU with a career-high-tying 9.850 in the anchor spot to win the event. Junior Mya Witte began the rotation with 9.725, followed by 9.675 from sophomore Lundyn VanderToolen. Freshman Anabelle Dewey scored 9.675, fellow freshman Alianna Valdez scored 9.750 and senior Chelsea Southam scored 9.725.

Rotation Two – Bars (49.150)
Utah State competed on bars next and scored a season-high 49.150. Jelen began the rotation by tying her career-high with 9.850. Senior Avery Bibbey followed with 9.800 to tie her season-high and sophomore Olivia Orengo scored 9.850 to tie her season-high. VanderToolen followed with a 9.850 of her own. Freshman Charley Laufer scored 9.200 and junior Isabella Vater concluded the rotation with 9.800. Jelen, Orengo and VanderToolen all tied for second on the event.

Moving to beam for its third rotation, Utah State scored 48.825. Jelen tied for first on the event as she tied her career-high with 9.875. Valdez followed with 9.750, Orengo scored 9.775, sophomore Kaylie Medrano scored 9.725, Morabito scored 9.125 and Witte posted 9.700 in the anchor spot.

Utah State concluded the meet on floor and scored 49.175 on the event, which is tied for its third-highest floor score of the season. Gruber stole the show for the Aggies as she posted a career-high 9.900 in the anchor spot to win the event. Orengo began the rotation with 9.825, followed by 9.750 from freshman Sienna Yelle. Southam then scored 9.825, Dewey posted a 9.600 and Vater scored 9.875.
