TEMPE, Arizona – Utah State gymnastics scored 196.300 to finish second at the Arizona State Tri Meet held here inside Desert Financial Arena Sunday afternoon. The Aggies finish the regular season with a 16-5 record, which is tied for the fourth-most regular season wins in program history and most since 1986.
It is the fifth straight meet that Utah State has scored 196.000 or better, tying the 2021 club for most in program history. Overall, USU has now posted six team scores of 196.000 or better this year, which is the third-most in school history.
Arizona State won the meet with 196.500 and Southeast Missouri was third with 193.750.
Utah State posted three career-high scores on the day as it began the meet on bars and scored 48.975, followed by 49.150 on beam, 49.150 on floor and 49.025 on vault. USU's beam score was tied for its second-best this season, while its vault score is its third best.
Arizona State scored 48.925 on vault, 49.150 on bars, 49.200 on beam and 49.225 on floor. Southeast Missouri scored 48.300 on vault, 47.950 on bars, 48.675 on beam and 48.825 on floor.
Utah State won a pair of titles as junior Nyla Morabito and sophomore Kaylie Medrano tied for first on vault with scores of 9.825, tying Medrano's career high. Freshman Charley Laufer tied for first on bars with a score of 9.850.
Morabito now has 21 titles in her career with 12 on vault, eight on floor, and one on beam. Her 12 vault titles are the fifth-most in program history. This year, Morabito has claimed 12 titles with nine on vault, two on floor, and one on beam. Her nine vault titles this season are tied with Michelle Pohl (1983) for the most in school history. Her 12 total titles this season are the fifth-most by a junior in USU history.
Medrano won her fourth career title with two on vault and two on beam, including her third this season as she now has two beam titles and one vault title.
For Laufer, it is her first career title.
Rotation One – Bars (48.975)
Utah State began the meet on bars and scored 48.975. Laufer led the Aggies here with 9.850 in the anchor spot to tie for first. Junior Sydney Jelen began the rotation with 9.800, followed by 9.725 from junior Isabella Vater, 9.800 from sophomore Olivia Orengo, 9.750 from senior Avery Bibbey and 9.775 from sophomore Lundyn VanderToolen.

Rotation Two – Beam (49.150)
Moving to beam for its second rotation, Utah State scored 49.150, tying for its second-best score on the apparatus this year. Jelen started the event with 9.850 and junior Mya Witte concluded it with another 9.850 as the duo tied for second. Orengo scored 9.800, sophomore Kaylie Medrano scored 9.825, freshman Alianna Valdez scored 9.825 and Laufer posted 9.700.

Rotation Three– Floor (49.150)
Utah State had a solid showing on floor, scoring 49.150. Morabito and Vater led the Aggies with scores of 9.900 to tie for second on the event. For Vater, that score ties her career high. Orengo began the rotation with 9.700, followed by 9.825 from freshman Sienna Yelle. Senior Marley Peterson followed with 9.750 and freshman Mara Gruber scored 9.775.

Utah State concluded the meet on vault and scored 49.025, for its third-best score on the event this year. Morabito and Medrano led USU with scores of 9.825 to share the title. Witte began the rotation with a career-high 9.800 and VanderToolen followed with another 9.800. Freshman Anabelle Dewey followed with 9.775. Medrano then tied her career-high of 9.825 in her first vault of the season. Vater scored 9.775 and Morabito posted her 9.825 in the anchor spot.
