Six Utah State Gymnasts Earn Seven All-Mountain West Honors

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State gymnastics had six student-athletes earn seven combined All-Mountain West honors as announced by the conference office on Friday.

Utah State had six gymnasts earn first-team All-MW honors in junior Sydney Jelen (beam), junior Nyla Morabito (vault), junior Isabella Vater (floor), junior Mya Witte (beam), sophomore Olivia Orengo (bars), and sophomore Lundyn VanderToolen (bars). Jelen also earned second-team All-MW honors on bars.

Air Force's Maggie Slife was named the Mountain West Gymnasts of the Year, along with claiming all four specialists of the year awards. San José State's Sophie Patterson was named the MW Freshman of the Year and Air Force's Jennifer Green was named the MW Coach of the Year.

Junior Sydney Jelen, Algonquin, Illinois
Jelen earned first-team honors on beam and second-team honors on bars. Jelen was named first-team All-MW on beam last year as well.

Jelen has won two beam titles this year and has scored at least 9.850 on the apparatus five times this season, including a career-high-tying 9.875 twice. She ranks third in the MW, 18th in North Central Region, and 102nd in the nation on beam with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.850. Her 9.808 average on beam this year is a career-high and the 13th best in program history.

Jelen added two bar titles to her resume this season and scored 9.800 or better on the event eight times, including a career-best 9.95 against No. 25 Oregon State, which is tied for the 11th-highest score on the event in program history. Jelen ranks sixth in the MW and 24th in the North Central Region on bars with a NQS of 9.835. Her 9.808 average on bars this year is a career-high and the 10th best in program history.

Jelen had eight top three finishes on beam and a trio of top three finishes on bars this year.

Junior Nyla Morabito, Welland, Ontario, Canada
Morabito earned first-team accolades on vault for the second straight year. She was named first-team All-MW on floor last year as well.

Morabito has claimed nine vault titles this year, which is tied for the most in a single season in program history. Overall, she has won 12 titles this year, which are the fifth-most by a junior in school history. For her career, Morabito has 12 vault titles which is the fifth-most at USU.

Morabito scored 9.800 or higher on vault 11 times this season, including in each of her last 10 meets and scored a career-high 9.875 twice. She ranks third in the MW, 13th in the North Central Region, and 76th nationally on vault with a NQS of 9.850. Her 9.819 average on vault this year is a career-high and tied for the fifth best in program history.

Junior Isabella Vater, Las Vegas, Nevada
Vater garnered all-conference honors for the second time in her career as she was named first-team All-MW on floor after receiving second-team accolades on floor last year. She won three floor titles this year and placed in the top three on floor in five other meets. She scored 9.875 or better on floor seven times this year, including a career-high 9.900 twice. Vater ranks third in the MW, 15th in the North Central Region, and 82nd in the nation on floor with an NQS of 9.880. Her 9.844 average on floor this year is a career-high and tied for the 12th best in program history.

Junior Mya Witte, Greenacres, Florida
Witte earned first-team All-MW honors on beam for her first career accolade. She won two floor titles this year and placed in the top three on beam in six other meets. She scored 9.800 or better on beam nine times this year and has scored 9.850 or better in five of her last six meets. She scored a career-high 9.900 at San José State. Witte ranks third in the MW, 18th in North Central Region, and 102nd in the nation on beam with an NQS of 9.850. Her 9.817 average on beam this year is a career-high and the 11th best in program history.

Sophomore Olivia Orengo, Rogers, Minnesota
Orengo earned first-team All-MW honors on bars after being named second-team All-MW on floor last year. She won two bar titles this year and placed in the top three on the event four more times. Orengo scored 9.800 or better on bars in 11 meets this season, including a career-high 9.900 at San José State. Orengo ranks second in the MW, 14th in the North Central Region, and 96th in the nation on bars with an NQS of 9.855. Her 9.825 average on bars this year is a career-high and tied for the sixth best in program history.

Sophomore Lundyn VanderToolen, Cottonwood Heights, Utah
VanderToolen earned first-team All-MW honors on bars after garnering second-team honors on the event last year. She won one bar title this year scoring 9.900 at San José State and finished in the top three on the event four other times. She scored 9.800 or higher on bars eight times this season. VanderToolen ranks second in the MW, 14th in the North Central Region, and 96th in the nation on bars with an NQS of 9.855. Her 9.817 average on bars this year is a career-high and tied for the eighth best in program history.

All-Mountain West Criteria
The All-Mountain West teams are determined by National Qualifying Scores (NQS). The All-MW First Team consists of the top three all-around performers, and top three performers in each individual event based on NQS scores. The All-MW Second Team is made up of the fourth to sixth best performers in each individual event based on NQS scores.

Next Up
Utah State will look to defend its title from last year as it travels to Boise, Idaho, this weekend to compete in the third annual Mountain West Championships, hosted by Boise State, on Saturday, March 21, at 6 p.m. The meet will be streamed live on the MW Network and live scoring will be available via Virtius. USU won the 2025 MW Postseason Championships with a 196.100.
