BOISE, Idaho – Utah State gymnastics won three of the four event titles and scored 196.400 to win its second-straight Mountain West Postseason Championship held here at ExtraMile Arena Saturday evening.
Utah State, who also shared the MW regular season title with Air Force, has now claimed nine conference championships in program history, including back-to-back postseason titles for the first time ever.
Junior Mya Witte was named the Championship MVP after winning the beam title with a career-high 9.950, which is tied for the second-best beam score in program history. In fact, that 9.950 is one of the top eight beam scores in school history.
Boise State placed second with a score of 196.200, while San José State finished third at 195.800 and Air Force was fourth with a score of 195.750.
Utah State set a school record during the meet with its sixth-straight score of 196.000 or better. The previous school record of five straight meets at 196.000-plus was set in 2021.
Utah State improves to 19-5 on the season, which is the sixth-most wins in program history, and most since the 1986 team notched a 24-11 record.
The Aggies used tremendous performances on its final two rotations as it posted its second-best beam score of the season with 49.200 and then recorded a season-high 49.350 on floor to claim the title. USU opened the meet with 48.975 on vault, which is tied for its fourth-best score on the apparatus this year and then notched 48.875 on bars. USU's 196.400 is its third-highest score of the season.
In all, Utah State posted five career-high scores during the meet to go along with one season-high score.
Utah State won three of the four event titles during the meet. Witte claimed the beam title with a career-high 9.950, which is tied for the second-highest beam score in school history. Freshman Mara Gruber won the floor title with a career-high-tying 9.900. Junior Nyla Morabito and sophomore Lundyn VanderToolen shared the vault title with scores of 9.850. VanderToolen and senior Avery Bibbey led the way for USU on bars with scores of 9.850 to tie for fourth.
Morabito won her 10th vault title this year to set a new single-season school record. The previous mark of nine vault titles was set by Michelle Pohl in 1983. It is Morabito's 13th title this year, which is the fifth-most by a junior in program history. For her career, Morabito now has 22 titles, including 13 on vault, which is tied for the third-most in program history.
VanderToolen has now claimed four titles in her career, including two on vault, both of which have been won this year. Overall, it is her third title of the season. For Witte, it is her third beam title this year and of her career. Gruber claimed her third floor title this year.
Rotation One – Vault (48.975)
Utah State began the meet on vault and scored 48.975, which is tied for its fourth-best score on the event this season. Morabito and VanderToolen led the Aggies with scores of 9.850 to tie for first. Witte began the rotation with 9.700, followed by VanderToolen's 9.850. Freshman Alianna Valdez followed with 9.750 and sophomore Kaylie Medrano posted 9.725. Junior Isabella Vater then scored 9.800 and Morabito finished the event with 9.850.

Rotation Two – Bars (48.875)
Utah State competed on bars next and scored 48.875. Junior Sydney Jelen started the rotation with 9.775, followed by 9.675 from Vater. Sophomore Olivia Orengo then scored 9.725. Senior Avery Bibbey regained some momentum for the team with a score of 9.850 and VanderToolen followed with a score of 9.850 as well. Freshman Charley Laufer concluded the rotation with 9.350. Bibbey and VanderToolen tied for fourth on the event to lead USU.

Rotation Three – Beam (49.200)
Moving to beam for its third rotation, Utah State scored 49.200 for its second-best score of the season on the event. Jelen started off by tying her career-high of 9.875 and Orengo followed with an identical 9.875 to tie her career-high. After a 9.225 from Medrano, freshman Alianna Valdez scored 9.800 and Laufer scored 9.700. Witte then won the event with her career-high 9.950, which is tied for the second-best beam score in school history.

Utah State concluded the meet on floor and scored a season-best 49.350. Gruber stole the show for the Aggies as she posted a career-high-tying 9.900 in the anchor spot to win the event. Orengo began the rotation with a season-high-tying 9.850, followed by 9.800 from freshman Sienna Yelle. Peterson then tied her career-high with 9.850 and Morabito scored 9.875. Vater followed with another 9.875 and Gruber concluded the meet with her 9.900.

Utah State will be one of the top 36 teams competing in the NCAA Regionals, which begins the first weekend in April. It will be USU's second-straight regional appearance as a team and 29th overall in program history.
