LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's golf team will travel to Peoria, Arizona, to compete in the Minnesota-hosted Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday, March 23-24, on the Gold Course at the Wigwam Golf Club, which plays at par-72, 7,345 yards.
Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. (MT) on Monday and 9 a.m. (MT) on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
Along with the Aggies and host Minnesota, the 17-team field includes Arkansas State, Bethel, Denver, Drake, Iowa State, Kansas City, Marquette, Maryland, Nebraska, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Oral Roberts, St. Thomas, UT-San Antonio, and Wisconsin.
Scheduled to compete for the Aggies is sophomore Chase Goetschel (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.), sophomore Noah Moody (Vineyard, Utah), sophomore Toby Heider (Kimberly, Idaho), senior Luis Cantu (Monterrey, Mexico), and sophomore Hunter Hall (Cody, Wyo.).
Utah State placed 14th during its first tournament of the spring on March 2-3, at the Fresno State-hosted Watney Invitational at 51-over 903 (308-297-298). Goetschel led USU as he finished tied for 31st at 7-over 220 (71-74-75).
Goetschel leads USU with a stroke average of 73.11 over 18 rounds. Moody has a stroke average of 73.56 over 18 rounds. Cantu has a stroke average of 74.33 over 12 rounds. Heider has a stroke average of 75.06 over 18 rounds. This will be Hall's second tournament of the year as he has a stroke average of 77.00 over three rounds.
