LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis fell to No. 63 Grand Canyon, 4-1, on Friday at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.

Doubles 
Utah State opened the match with a strong performance in doubles play, earning a win at the top spot as junior Olivia Halvorsen and freshman Terezia Mlkva secured a 6-1 victory. Grand Canyon responded with wins at the second and third positions to claim the doubles point and take the early lead. Sophomore Natalie Paterova and junior Sabina Pintea fell 6-3 at the No. 2 spot, while sophomore Maria Paula Ramos Garcia and freshman Chahd Tourkhani battled in a tight tiebreak at the third position but came up just short, 7-6 (8-6).

Singles 
The Aggies continued to compete in singles play, but Grand Canyon secured the match with wins at the third, sixth and first positions. After the Lopes earned their second point of the match with a straight-sets win at No. 6, freshman Sabina Pintea delivered Utah State's lone point of the day with a dominant straight-sets victory at the No. 2 spot, winning 6-1, 6-3. Despite pushing three of the remaining matches to three sets, GCU ultimately took the match with wins at the third and first positions. Matches at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions were left unfinished.

Next Up
Utah State continues its four-match home stand next week against UNLV on Friday, March 27, at 11 a.m., and against Nevada on Sunday, March 29, at 11 a.m.
