LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's golf team will travel to Maricopa, Arizona, to compete in the Wyoming-hosted Cowboy Classic on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 31-April 1, at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, which plays at par-72, 7,330 yards.
Golfers will play 36 holes on Tuesday and 18 holes on Wednesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (MT) both days. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com
Along with the Aggies and host Wyoming, the 25-team field includes Arkansas State, CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Iowa State, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, San Diego, San Francisco, South Dakota State, USC, Southern Utah, St. Mary's, UC Irvine, UNLV, South Florida, UT Arlington, UTEP, Utah Valley, Weber State, Western Carolina and Wichita State.
Scheduled to compete for the Aggies is sophomore Chase Goetschel (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.), sophomore Toby Heider (Kimberly, Idaho), sophomore Noah Moody (Vineyard, Utah), sophomore Hunter Hall (Cody, Wyo.) and freshman Zach Skinner (Providence, Utah).
Utah State placed 12th out of 17 teams last week at the Minnesota-hosted Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate, held on the Gold Course at Wigwam Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz., with a 10-over-par 874 (289-290-295). Goetschel led USU as he finished tied for fifth with a career-low 5-under 211 (69-71-70) to record his best collegiate finish.
Goetschel leads USU with a stroke average of 72.71 over 21 rounds. Moody has a stroke average of 73.43 over 21 rounds. Heider has a stroke average of 74.57 over 21 rounds. Skinner has a stroke average of 75.83 over 18 rounds. Hall has a stroke average of 77.33 over six rounds.
