LOGAN, Utah – Utah State senior gymnast Avery Bibbey has been named one of 45 nominees for the American Athletic Inc. (AAI) Award.
The AAI Award is presented annually to the most outstanding senior collegiate female gymnast and is considered the Heisman Trophy of gymnastics.
Bibbey is the only Mountain West nominee.
"What a tremendous honor for Avery," said Utah State head gymnastics coach Kristin White. "We are incredibly proud of her contributions in the classroom, gym, and community. She is a great leader and very deserving of this recognition."
Bibbey has won five event titles in her career, all on bars, including two this season.
This season, Bibbey ranks seventh in the Mountain West on bars with a National Qualifying Score of 9.785.
Bibbey earned first-team All-Mountain West honors during the 2025 season and has been named the MW Bars Co-Specialist of the Week once during her career.
Bibbey culminated her junior season by qualifying for the 2025 NCAA Regional Championships on bars with a National Qualifying Score of 9.860, which ranked third in the Mountain West, tied for 17th in the North Central Region, and tied for 96th in the nation.
Academically, Bibbey excels in the classroom and graduated in the fall of 2025 with her bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science with a 3.97 GPA. She is currently pursuing her master's in sports management. Avery is a three-time Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-American, a two-time Academic All-District honoree, a two-time Academic All-Mountain West recipient, and a two-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.
As for community service and outreach, Bibbey has over 100 hours of service. She has spent her time working with elementary schools, and family- and youth-focused community events such as Truck or Treat and Little Lambs Christmas Party. Bibbey participates in National Girls and Women in Sports Day Clinics and has supported fundraising initiatives including The Family Place Superhero Fundraiser for Kids.
Bibbey is active in leadership and student-athlete engagement. She is an executive administrator for Utah State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, providing organization leadership and operational support. Bibbey volunteers and participates in student-athlete career fairs and engages in leadership and networking opportunities supporting life-after-sport preparation.
Furthermore, Bibbey is a consistent contributor to team-based service efforts supporting peers and the broader Aggie community.
