Match Recap: Women's Tennis |
LAS VEGAS - Utah State women's tennis fell to third-seeded UNLV, 4-1, in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament on Thursday at the Darling Tennis Center. The Aggies finish the season at 12-11 overall, the program's best mark since 2019, with a 5-6 showing in MW play, setting a program record for conference wins in a season.

Doubles
USU made a strong start to the match, winning at the top two spots of the doubles lineup to claim an early 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, sophomore Natalie Paterova and freshman Sabina Pintea posted a 6-2 win which was matched at the second position by sophomore Kylee Sperry and freshman Terezia Mlkva to clinch the opening point. At the third position, sophomore Maria Paula Ramos Garcia and freshman Chahd Tourkhani bounced back from a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead before the point was clinched and the match left unfinished.

Singles
The Rebels responded in singles play, tying the match with a win by retirement at the second position before jumping in front and ultimately clinching the win with straight-set victories at the first, fifth and sixth positions. The Aggies fought hard to extend the match as Tourkhani took the second set at the fourth position to force a third set while Ramos Garcia was one short from achieving the same at the third position before the match was clinched.
