LOGAN, Utah – Utah State track and field senior Logan Hammer has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, May 10. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
 
With their sponsorship of the student-athlete of the week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
 
Hammer won the men's pole vault title with a height of 5.36 meters (17-7) at the Oregon Twilight in Eugene, Oregon, on Friday, besting the field by over a foot. Hammer's clearance was his best in three career competitions at Hayward Field, the site of the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The six-time Mountain West champion currently ranks first in the conference.
  
Hammer was named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the third time in the 2025-26 campaign and the 16th time in his Aggie career.

GOLF – Sophomore Noah Moody (Vineyard, Utah) tied for 24th with a career-low 5-under 211 (74-69-68) for his best-ever 54-hole score at the 2026 Mountain West Championships, held at the 7,194-yard, par-72 Catalina Course at the Omni Tucson National Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Moody's 24th place finish is tied for the second-best of his career. He began the tournament with a 2-over 74, followed by back-to-back rounds in the 60s with a 3-under 69 and a career-low 4-under 68. It is Moody's second career under par finish as he has now carded three rounds in the 60s and eight rounds under par this year. USU finished in 11th place at 3-over 867 (300-283-284).
 
MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD – Freshman Karina Cooper (Camas, Washington) posted the third-best pole vault performance in Utah State history, placing second in the field with a height of 4.07 meters (13-4.25) at the Oregon Twilight in Eugene, Oregon, on Friday. Cooper entered a tie for third in the Aggie record book with sophomore teammate Sabrina Fairbanks, and the pair are tied for fifth among Mountain West vaulters.
