TUCSON, Arizona — Utah State shot an opening round 12-over-par 300 and is in 12th place after the first day of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Golf Championships held here at the Catalina Course at the Omni Tucson National Resort.

San Diego State leads the tournament at 15-under following its opening round 273. The Aztecs' Tyler Kowack is in first individually at 7-under following his round of 65 on Sunday.

Utah State sophomores Chase Goetschel and Noah Moody are tied for 46th after their opening rounds of 2-over 74. Freshman Zach Skinner is tied for 51st at 3-over 75. Sophomore Toby Heider is tied for 56th at 5-over 77. Sophomore Hunter Hall is in 58th place at 6-over 78.

Utah State players will be paired with golfers from Air Force and Boise State for the second round tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. (PT).
