Golf in 11th Place Following Second Round of Mountain West Championships

TUCSON, Arizona  Utah State fired a 5-under-par 283 during its second round of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Golf Championships on Monday and is currently in 11th place at 7-over 583.

The Aggies improved by 17 strokes from their opening-round 12-over 300, highlighted by three golfers posting 3-under 69s in the second round.

UNLV leads the tournament at 27-under 549 (279-270) at the 7,194-yard, par-72 Catalina Course at the Omni Tucson National Resort. Individually, San Diego State's Tyler Kowack (65-69) and Harry Takis (68-66), along with Grand Canyon's Mans Boje (67-67), are tied for the lead at 10-under 134.

For Utah State, sophomores Chase Goetschel (74-69) and Noah Moody (74-69) are tied for 30th at 1-under 143 after each carded a 3-under 69 in the second round. The round marks Goetschel's fifth in the 60s this season and his 10th under par, while Moody records his second round in the 60s this year and seventh under par.

Sophomore Toby Heider also posted a 3-under 69 and is tied for 45th at 2-over 146 (77-69). The round is his first in the 60s this season and second of his career, along with his seventh career round under par.

Freshman Zach Skinner is tied for 56th at 7-over 151 (75-76). Senior Luis Cantu, who entered the lineup in the second round in place of sophomore Hunter Hall, shot a 4-over 76 and is tied for 60th.

Utah State will be paired with Air Force and Boise State for Tuesday's final round, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. (PT).
