LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head gymnastics coach Kristin White has announced the addition of Lauren O'Brochta (Oh-Brock-tah). O'Brochta will be a senior for USU during the 2027 season.
O'Brochta has spent the last three years competing at Iowa State as a beam specialist. During her three seasons as a Cyclone, she competed in 32 meets and posted a career-high 9.875 on beam during the 2024 campaign.
At Iowa State, O'Brochta was named to the Big 12 Conference All-Academic Team in 2025 and 2026, and to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll four times. As a freshman during the 2024 campaign, she was named a Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-American and to the Academic All-Big 12 All-Rookie Team.
Prior to Iowa State, O'Brochta trained at Legacy Elite Gymnastics in Aurora, Illinois, and was coached by Anna Li, Jiani Wu and Yueji Li. She was a state finisher on floor (second in 2022) and beam (third in 2021). As a level 10 competitor, she qualified for the 2022 WDP Nationals and was a two-time JO National Qualifier. She was a two-time second place finisher on regional beam and was a two-time third place finisher on regional floor.
"We are thrilled to have Lauren join our Aggie Family," said White. "Her work ethic, passion, and artistry will make an immediate impact on our program. She is a proven leader and will make a difference day one."
The daughter of David and Rory O'Brochta will major in marketing at Utah State with an expected graduation date of spring 2027.
"I chose Utah State because the staff was invested in me from the beginning and recognized what I could bring to the team," said O'Brochta. "The program embodies a culture of support and excellence that immediately stood out to me. Utah State also places a strong emphasis on academics, and I see it as a place where I can thrive both athletically and in the classroom. From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt warmly welcomed by the team and the Utah State community. I knew Logan was where I belonged.
"I'm most looking forward to experiencing Spectrum Magic with the amazing Utah State fanbase, being part of such a strong support system, and competing alongside my teammates to achieve our goals. I can't wait to enjoy the beautiful scenery and mountains that makes USU special. GO AGGIES!"
