Utah State Joins Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as Affiliate Member in Indoor Track & Field

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State has accepted an invitation to join the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as an affiliate member in men's and women's indoor track & field, it was announced by the conference on Thursday. Utah State's membership in the conference will be effective on July 1.

"We are very grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of the MPSF for the indoor season!" said Artie Gulden, USU's director of track & field and cross country. "It will give our student-athletes a great conference championship experience, and that atmosphere in a championship usually brings out the best in all our athletes. We look forward to being a part of it."

USU will join the MPSF alongside fellow Pac-12 institutions Boise State, Colorado State and San Diego State and the Big West's Sacramento State, UC Santa Barbara and Utah Valley, increasing the conference's membership in the sport to 12 schools on the men's side and 19 on the women's side for the 2026-27 season.

The 2027 MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships are set to be held from February 26-27, 2027, at the Podium in Spokane, Washington.

Utah State indoor track & field was previously a member of the MPSF from 1993-2004, competing alongside teams form the Big West and Pac-10 conferences. The men's team won the MPSF team title in 1993, with the women claiming the team crown a year later. USU's men's athletes won a combined 13 individual titles, highlighted by Lance White's three-straight pole vault titles from 1993-95. Canadian Olympian LaDonna Antoine-Watkins' three titles from 1993-97 headlined the Aggies' eight individual titles on the women's side during their previous MPSF tenure.
