LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head gymnastics coach Kristin White announced Wednesday the hiring of Abby Mueller to her staff as an assistant coach. Mueller will be the primary coach on floor and assist on other events as needed.

Mueller comes to Utah State after spending the 2026 season as an assistant coach at Illinois.

"We are thrilled to welcome Abby to our Aggie Family," said White. "She was a former student-athlete in the Big 10 and SEC and brings a wealth of passion and competiveness to our program. We look forward to her working with our student-athletes on the floor exercise. Her dance background and technical coaching will be a great asset to our team.

"Abby's experience in coaching and operations will help our program continue to rise and achieve as we make the transition to the new Pac-12 Conference. It was clear through the process that Abby is driven and wants to coach championship teams. We are excited she chose to be an Aggie. The future is bright in Logan!"

Mueller spent four seasons (2021-24) competing for the Fighting Illini as she earned Academic All-Big Ten honors during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. A native of Rochester, Minnesota, Mueller holds the program's third-best floor score with her 9.950 at Nebraska in 2024.

Mueller spent the 2025 season at Missouri, where she secured the leadoff position on vault in the first three meets of the campaign before holding the leadoff spot on beam in the last three meets of the year. Mueller also helped the Tigers record their best beam score in program history with a 49.575 at Arkansas.

"I am beyond excited to join Utah State and be part of such a special program," said Mueller. "From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt an immediate connection to the people and the culture, which made this opportunity even more meaningful. I'm incredibly grateful for the chance to work alongside such a talented staff, and I'm eager to contribute to the continued success of the program and help bring the vision to life. I can't wait to get started and be a part of the Aggie family!"

Mueller graduated from Illinois in May 2024 with a bachelor's degree in recreation, sport, and tourism.
