LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head gymnastics coach Kristin White announced Monday the hiring of former Aggie Chelsea Southam to her staff as Director of Operations.
Previously, Southam spent four years as a member of the Utah State gymnastics team as she was twice named a Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-American (2024, 2025) and earned Academic All-Mountain West and MW Scholar-Athlete honors during her senior year in 2026.
"I am thankful to have Chelsea rejoin our program in a new role," said White. "She will be the perfect addition to help us manage our daily operations in the evolving landscape of college athletics. Chelsea understands our culture, expectations, and standards and her experience will make her a perfect fit in this new position. We are so happy she is staying home and we look forward to having her continue to be a part of our team."
Southam competed in 17 meets during her Utah State career, including the first nine meets of the 2026 campaign before missing the remainder of the year due to injury. As a senior, she finished the year ranking 37th in the North Central Region on floor with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.825 and was 49th in the region on vault with a NQS of 9.725. She averaged a career-best 9.806 on floor and a career-high 9.708 on vault.
Southam was named the Mountain West Floor Co-Specialist of the Week after scoring a career-high 9.875 on the event at Oregon State (1/25/26). She won the floor title with a 9.850 against Boise State (2/20/26) and tied for second on floor with a career-high-tying 9.875 at the Boise State Quad Meet (1/30/26). She scored a career-high 9.825 on vault during her first competition of the season at the Best of Utah Meet (1/12/26).
"I'm so thankful for the opportunity to continue working with the Aggies," said Southam. "This program has had such a meaningful impact on my life, and I'm excited to give back in a new way. I can't wait to help contribute to the success of this team. Go Aggies!"
Southam earned her bachelor's degree from Utah State in recreation administration in the spring of 2026.
