Four Utah State Golfers Named Cobalt All-America Scholars

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State golfers Luis Cantu, Chase Goetschel, Toby Heider and Noah Moody were all named Cobalt All-America Scholars, it was announced on Monday. In all, 649 NCAA Division I athletes from 210 schools earned 2025-26 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors.

Cantu, a senior from Monterrey, Mexico, graduated in the spring of 2025 with his bachelor's degree in management and finance while maintaining a 3.62 GPA. He is a four-time Academic All-Mountain West (2022, 2023, 2024, 2026) and MW Scholar-Athlete (2022, 2023, 2024, 2026) honoree and has been named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District twice (2023, 2026).

Cantu had a stroke average of 74.95 during the 2025-26 campaign and carded two rounds under par.

Goetschel, a sophomore from Trabuco Canyon, Calif., is a sophomore majoring in finance while maintaining a 3.69 GPA. He earned CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-MW honors this past season.

Goetschel had a team-best stroke average of 72.43 during the 2025-26 campaign, which ranks as the 10th-best in school history. He led the team in rounds in the 60s with five, top 20 placings with two, 14 rounds at par or better, 11 rounds under par, and four finishes under par. His five rounds in the 60s are tied for the ninth-most in a single season in program history, while his 11 rounds under par are tied for the fourth-most and his 14 rounds of par-or-better are tied for the eighth-most in program history.

Heider, a sophomore from Kimberly, Idaho, is a sophomore majoring in recreation administration/sports management while maintaining a 3.33 GPA. He earned Academic All-Mountain West honors this past season.

Heider had a stroke average of 74.59 during the 2025-26 campaign as he recorded five rounds under par and had two under-par finishes on the season.

Moody, a sophomore from Vineyard, Utah, is a sophomore majoring in recreation administration/sports management while maintaining a 3.73 GPA. He earned CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-MW honors this past season.

Heider had a stroke average of 73.10 during the 2025-26 campaign as he carded 14 rounds of par-or-better which is tied for the eighth-most in a single season in program history. He had three rounds in the 60s, eight rounds under par, and two finishes under par.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
