LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis opened their fall tournament schedule at the Jon Messick Invitational hosted by Colorado State this weekend. Sophomore
Chahd Tourkhani led a strong showing from the Aggies with a 5-0 weekend across singles and doubles play.
Tourkhani played alongside senior
Tia Clemens in doubles where the duo recorded a pair of wins, defeating partnerships from Air Force 7-5 and Colorado State 6-3. In singles play, Tourkhani posted three more victories to win the Flight B draw. Tourkahni defeated Wyoming's Antonella Taco Villarreal, 6-4, 6-3, Colorado State's Diana Lizarazo, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5), and Air Force's Shivaani Selvan, 6-2, 6-4, to win the singles draw and complete her 5-0 weekend.
The Aggies went a combined 6-1 in doubles matches at the tournament. Junior

Sabina Pintea defeated a pair of teams from Wyoming, 6-0 and 6-2, while senior
Tayla Wilmot and freshman
Giulia Musat also posted a 7-6 (5) win over a Wyoming partnership plus a 6-4 win over a duo from Colorado State.
Elsewhere in singles action, both Pintea and WIlmot finished with a pair of wins on the weekend. Pintea defeated Wyoming's Madlena Orlova, 6-4, 7-6 (4), and also won versus Taco Villarreal, 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-5). Wilmot posted a pair of three-set wins, beating CSU's Dylan Voeks, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8), and Wyoming Zlata Nesterova, 6-1, 2-6 1-0 (10-4).
The Aggies continue the fall tournament season next weekend at the Bedford Cup in the Mountains hosted by Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Friday through Sunday, Sept. 25-27.
