LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's women's cross country team heads to Missouri this Friday for the Gans Creek Classic. The 6k championship race begins at 7 a.m. (MT).

LOOKING BACK
Last season at the Gans Creek Classic, Utah State secured a 17th-place result with 452 points at the Pre-National Invitational. Senior Natalie Swain led the Aggies to the finish line, crossing in 40th place, while fellow returners in senior Shelby Jensen, senior Brie Smith, and sophomore Hailey Shakespear each scored points, finishing in 87th, 108th, and 157th.
 
LAST RACE
The women's squad was dominant in their season opener, scoring the minimum 15 points at the home-hosted Utah State Alumni Challenge. Swain won by a decisive 13-second margin, followed by junior Ava Trimble, Smith, Shakespear, and Jensen, all crossing within a second of one another to round out the point scorers. Freshman Lucy Boone followed close behind to place sixth in her first collegiate race.
 
SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW
The women's roster combines an established group of veterans with a promising influx of young talent. Nine student-athletes return from the 2025 season, with four bringing postseason experience.  An equal number of newcomers join the squad, including six freshmen, two transfers, and one member of the 2024 team.
