Outdoor: Earned first-team All-American honors after placing fourth in the javelin with a season-best throw of 73.92 meters (242-6) at the NCAA Outdoor Finals… Became the school’s first three-time first-team All-American in one event since former U.S. Olympian James Parker in 2001 (hammer)… Advanced to the Outdoor Finals by placing first in the javelin with a throw of 73.68 meters (241-8) at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships… Garnered first-team all-Mountain West honors after placing first with a mark of 73.69 meters (241-9) on his first and only attempt of the competition… His individual championship marked the first time an Aggie won three-straight titles in one event since Steve Strickland won three-straight 3,000-meter steeplechase titles from 2008-10 in the WAC Track & Field Championships… Earned academic all-MW and USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete accolades.

Outdoor: Placed fourth with a school-record throw of 80.91 meters (265-5) at the Jena Javelin Fest in Jena, Germany… Earned first-team All-American honors after placing third in the javelin with a mark of 76.37 meters (250-6) at the NCAA Outdoor Finals… Advanced to the Outdoor Finals by taking the top spot at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships with a throw of 77.87 meters (255-5)… Tabbed the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mountain Region Field Athlete of the Year… Garnered first-team All-Mountain West honors after successfully defending his 2017 title in the javelin with a winning throw of 78.14 meters (256-4) at the Outdoor Championships… Broke his own MW Outdoor Championships record of 77.19 meters (253-3) with that mark… Tabbed the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week and the MW Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week after opening the season with a conference-, meet- and season-best throw of 80.49 meters (264-1) at the UC Irvine-hosted Spring Collegiate Classic… Captured first place in four of the six meets he competed in… Earned academic all-MW and USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete honors.

Indoor: Did not compete.
Outdoor: Earned first-team All-American honors after placing sixth in the javelin with a mark of 73.28 meters (240-5) at the NCAA Outdoor Finals… Became the first Utah State student-athlete since 2009 to garner first-team All-American honors and the school’s first All-American in the javelin since 1989… Qualified for the Outdoor Finals after finishing first in the javelin with a mark of 76.18 meters (249-11) at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships… Tabbed first-team all-Mountain West after winning the javelin title with a season-best mark of 77.19 meters (253-3), which also set a facility record, at the Outdoor Championships… Placed first in five of the six meets he competed in… Tabbed the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week twice during the season, once after winning the javelin title with a distance of 72.24 meters (237-0) at the UC Irvine-hosted Spring Break Collegiate Classic and again after capturing the javelin title at the UCLA-hosted Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersey Invitational with a throw of 73.06 meters (239-8.25)… Earned academic all-MW honors.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Menntaskolinn i Kopavogi Secondary College in Kopavogur, Iceland ... Placed 12th at the IAAF World Junior Championships in 2014… Recorded a personal-best throw of 77.28m (253-6) in the javelin.

PERSONAL: One of three children of Gudmundur and Srandis Gudmundsson… Majoring in accounting.
