Indoor: Did not compete during the season… Earned USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete honors.
Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
2019 (SR)
Indoor: Earned first-team all-Mountain West honors after placing third in the pole vault (5.10 meters/16-8.75) at the Indoor Championships… Placed first in the pole vault with a career-best mark of 5.35 meters (17-6.50), which ranks third all-time in school history, at the Montana State Dual Meet.
Outdoor: Redshirted during the season… Earned academic all-Mountain West, MW Scholar-Athlete and USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete honors.

2018 (JR)
Indoor: Earned first-team all-Mountain West honors after placing first in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 5.15 meters (16-10.75) at the Indoor Championships… Placed first in four of the six meets he competed in, and recorded five top-three finishes.
Outdoor: Tied for 17th in the first round of the pole vault with a mark of 5.00 meters (16-4.75) at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships… Garnered first-team all-Mountain West honors after placing first in the pole vault with a mark of 5.00 meters (16-4.75) at the Outdoor Championships… Placed first and set a personal-best mark of 5.17 meters (16-11.5), which ranks sixth all-time in school history, in the event at the Utah State-hosted Mark Faldmo Invitational… Placed first three times and finished in the top 10 in four of the seven meets he competed in… Earned academic all-MW, MW Scholar-Athlete, USTFCCCA All-Academic and USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete accolades.

2017 (SO)
Indoor: Tied for sixth in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 4.90 meters (16-0.75) at the Mountain West Indoor Championships… Recorded a personal-best mark of 5.72 meters (18-9.25) in the long jump at the Montana State Invitational.
Outdoor: Placed eighth in the pole vault (4.62 meters/15-1.75) at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships… Recorded season-best mark of 4.92 meters (16-1.50) in the pole vault at the UC Irvine-hosted Spring Break Collegiate Classic, where he placed third in the event... Earned academic all-MW, MW Scholar-Athlete and USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete honors. 

2013 (FR)
Indoor: Finished 10th in the pole vault with a mark of 4.53 meters (14-10.25) at the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
Outdoor: Redshirted during the season.


HIGH SCHOOL: A four-time letterwinner in track & field at Timberline High School in Boise, Idaho… Recorded a personal-and school-best mark of 4.41 meters (14-6) in the pole vault… Placed second in the pole vault at the Idaho state championships… Led the track & field team to a third-place finish at state as a junior.

PERSONAL: One of three children of Eric and Gina Nelson… Served an LDS Church Mission in Fukuoka, Japan, from 2014-2016… Majoring in finance.
