Cross Country (2019): Ran in three races during the season with his best finish coming at Montana State Cross Country Classic, where he placed 11th with a time of 25:32.4… Placed 22nd with a time of 25:27.0 in the “B” Race at the Wisconsin-hosted Nuttycombe Invitational… Finished 60th with a time of 24:17.4 at the Lehigh-hosted Paul Short Run.
Indoor: Placed ninth in the mile with a time of 4:17.60 at the Mountain West Indoor Championships… Captured first place in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:27.02 at the North Dakota State-hosted Bison Team Cup… Placed third in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:14.82 at the New Mexico-hosted Don Kirby Elite Invitational… Ran career-best time of 8:10.83 in the 3,000 meters at the Washington Invitational… Named the Joe E. Whitesides Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete... Also earned academic all-MW honors.
Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cross Country (2018): Finished 91st at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships with a time of 32:06.3… Placed 52nd at the Mountain West Championships with a time of 26:52.7… Competed in five meets during the season with his best finish coming at the Utah State-hosted Sagebrush Invitational, where he placed sixth with a time of 21:51.74… Also placed 18th at the Lehigh-hosted Paul Short Run (24:50) and 80th at Pre-Nationals (24:52.7)… Earned MW Scholar-Athlete honors.
Indoor: Placed sixth in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:16.72 at the Mountain West Indoor Championships… Competed in the 3,000 meters at the Boise State-hosted Jacksons/Nike Boise Indoor Invitational, where he placed fourth with a time of 8.33.18.
Outdoor: Placed 28th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:58.94 at the NCAA Outdoor West Prelims… Earned first-team all-Mountain West honors after placing third in the steeplechase with a personal-best time of 8:54.99, which ranks 10th all-time in school history, at the Outdoor Championships… Earned first-team Google Cloud Academic All-District VIII, academic all-MW, MW Scholar-Athlete and USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete accolades.

2018 (FR)
Indoor: Placed 19th in the prelims of the mile with a time of 4:25.61 at the Mountain West Indoor Championships, where he also competed in the 3,000 meters… Recorded career-best times of 8:29.93 in the 3,000 meters at the New Mexico-hosted Don Kirby Invitational and 10:16.10 in the DMR at the Boise State-hosted Ed Jacoby Invitational… Ran season-best time of 4:17.40 in the mile at the New Mexico Team Challenge.
Outdoor: Finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:22.46 at the Utah State-hosted Mark Faldmo Invitational… Recorded season-best time of 9:09.01 in the same event at the San Francisco Distance Carnival, where he placed 18th… Earned Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete accolades.

HIGH SCHOOL: A six-time letterwinner at Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah, as a distance runner for cross country and track & field… Posted personal-best times of 15:20 in the 5-kilometer distance, 15:06 in the three-mile, 9:20 in the two-mile distance, ran a 4:15 mile and competed in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55… Named MVP for cross country in 2015 and was all-state in cross country and track & field in 2015… Led the Darts to the 2013 and 2015 state titles… His 4x800-meter relay team was the NBN Indoor National Champions and 4x1 mile runners-up… Graduated first in his class with a 4.0 grade-point average and earned academic all-state honors and a USU Dean’s Scholarship.

PERSONAL: Son of Tyson and Angie Smith… Has three younger sisters and one younger brother… Served a two-year LDS Church mission in Mérida, Mexico… Majoring in management information systems.
