2020 (FR)
Indoor: Competed at four meets with his best finish coming at the Boise State-hosted Jackson’s/Nike Boise Indoor Invitational, where he placed fifth in the 5,000 meters with a career-best time of 15:56.38… Ran personal-best time of 8:53.86 in the 3,000 meters at the Boise State-hosted Bronco Challenge, where he placed eighth… Earned academic all-Mountain West  honors.
Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


HIGH SCHOOL: Participated in track & field and cross country at Skyridge High School in Lehi, Utah… Helped the Falcons to a second-place cross country finish in 5A, and a No. 11 national ranking… Earned second-team all-state honors as a junior… Missed his senior season with a broken femur… Recorded personal-best times of 4:19 in the 1,600-meter run and 9:20 in the 3,200-meter run… Graduated high school with a 3.93 GPA and earned the Regents Scholarship.

PERSONAL: One of three children of Matthew and Jill Heaps… Sister, Jackie (Heaps) Hendrickson ran distance for Utah State from 2015-18, and his brother-in-law is Adam Hendrickson, who was a member of USU’s cross country/track & field teams from 2016-20… Served a mission for The Chursh of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Trinidad Port of Spain from 2017-19… Majoring in mechanical engineering.
