Biography

2003-04 SEASON (SR): Earned first-team all-Big West honors as a senior as he averaged 9.6 points and led the league with 4.86 assists per game… His 141 assists rank as 10thmost in a single-season at USU, while his 4.7 assists per game ranks second all-time at Utah State… Also led the league in three-point shooting with a 43.9 percentage, going 36-of-82 from behind the arc… Named a CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major All-American which consisted of the top 16 players in the country from the mid-major universities, as well as the Most Valuable Player… Earned Big West Conference Player of the Week honors after leading USU to wins against Weber State (11/25) and Illinois State (11/29), averaging 15.5 points, 7.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game in the two contests… His 13 assist outing against Illinois State marked a new career-high, and ranked tied for fifth all-time in USU program history… Scored a season-high 25 points in USU’s 62-58 win at CS Northridge (2/12) as he shot 8-of-9 in the game including 3-of-3 from three-point range, and going 6-of-6 from the free throw line… Had 13 double-figure scoring outings and two 20-plus point games… Grabbed a career-high six rebounds in the Aggies’ win over Jackson State (12/18).
 
2002-03 SEASON (JR): Named honorable mention all-Big West after starting all 33 games at point guard in his first year at USU… Led the team in minutes played (32.3), assists (149) and steals (43)… His 149 assists rank seventh on USU’s single-season list, while his 1,067 minutes rank 11th… Finished the year with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.99, which led the Big West Conference and ranked fifth all-time at USU for a single season… Also finished second in the conference in assists per game (4.52) and fourth in free-throw percentage (.851)… Named to the Big West Conference all-tournament team as he averaged 9.0 points and 6.3 assists per game, highlighted by his first career double-double against Cal State Fullerton in the opening game as he scored 18 points and recorded 12 assists… Those 12 assists rank as the ninth-most in a single-game in school history… Named the Big West Conference Player of the Week on Dec. 2 after leading USU to the 2002 Hilo Shootout Championship with victories over Vermont, Drake and Hawai’i-Hilo as he averaged 13.5 points and 5.8 assists en route to being named tournament MVP… Scored a season-high 19 points in his first game of the season at Illinois State to go along with a season-high four steals… Scored in double-figures in each of his first six games at USU and in 13 games on the season… Averaged 8.6 points per game to rank fourth on the team… Shot 38.6 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from three-point range… Recorded a team-high five charges taken on the season.
 
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Was a two-year starter at Saddleback (Calif.) Junior College, earning all-state honors both seasons… Was named the MVP of the Orange Empire Conference two straight years and the first to repeat as league MVP since Anthony Carter accomplished the feat in the mid ‘90s… Was named the Southern California JC Player of the Year as a sophomore and runner-up Player of the Year as a freshman… Also. Named the Orange County JC Athlete of the year and MVP of the state tournament as a sophomore… Led Saddleback JC to the state championship as a sophomore and to the semifinals of the state tournament as a freshman… Saddleback went 33-4 during his freshman year, including 21 consecutive wins, and 33-3 during his sophomore season with a 28-game winning streak… Averaged 15.0 points, 4.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore and 11.4 points, 4.9 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game as a freshman… As a sophomore, he shot 46 percent from the field, 34 percent from three-point range and 80 percent from the free-throw line… Finished third all-time at Saddleback JC with 340 career assists… Had career-highs of 29 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists, all as a sophomore.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time first-team all-conference and all-state selection at Santa Rita High School in Tucson… Was named the Player of the Year in his conference as a junior as he led his team to the state championship… As a senior he averaged 15.2 points, 5.1 assists and 3.5 steals.
