2022-23 SEASON (JR): Played in nine of Utah State’s 10 tournaments, totaling 23 rounds… Had a stroke average of 75.26, including averaging 73.13 in the first round, 76.33 in the second round and 76.00 in the third round… Ranked fourth on the team in pars (234), fourth in birdies (56) and second in eagles (4)… Played in the second round of the Mountain West Championships, shooting a 1-over 73 on the Catalina Course at the OMNI Tucson National Resort in Tucson, Arizona… Best finish of the season came at the UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, California, where he tied for 23rd at 8-over 152… Tied for third in a field of 92 in par-3 scoring at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational as he averaged 2.83 at the par-70, 7,106-yard Boulder Country Club in Boulder, Colorado… One of just two golfers in a field of 71 to record an eagle at The Clerico, hosted by Oral Roberts at the Oaks Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma… Led the two-day tournament with two eagles… Tied for first in a field of 66 with one eagle at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational at the Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, California... Earned academic all-MW accolades.
2021-22 SEASON (SO): Competed in eight tournaments, playing 23 rounds… Led the team in stroke average (73.13), top-20 finishes (4), rounds under par (7) and par-or-better rounds (10)… Averaged a team-best 72.88 in his first round, to go along with 73.25 in the second round and 73.29 in the third round… Led the team in birdies with 71, including a season-high 12 at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, where he tied for 40th at even par-216 (69-73-74) at Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, Arizona… Also led Utah State with four eagles on the season, including two at the at the Southern Utah-hosted Pizza Hut-Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, Utah… Tied for 20th at the Mountain West Championship as he shot 1-over 217 (70-76-71) on the Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington… Recorded 38 pars during the Mountain West Championship to lead Utah State and tie for fourth overall… Tied for fifth in par-5 scoring with an average of 4.58 at the MW Championship… Shot a career-low round of 69 at the UC San Diego Invitational on the La Costa Champions Course in Carlsbad, California, where he recorded his best-ever finish by tying for fifth at 3-under 213 (73-69-71)… Recorded his second-career 69 at his next tournament, the Cowboy Classic… Finished in the top 20 in four of his final six tournaments… Earned academic all-MW accolades.
2020-21 SEASON (FR): Finished the season with a stroke-average of 76.61 over 18 rounds… Placed 54th at the Mountain West Championship at 21-over 237 (81-83-73)… Season-low 54-hole score was a 6-over 222 (73-77-72) at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, where he tied for 67th… Best finish of the season was at the inaugural UC San Diego Invitational, where he tied for 15th at 10-over 226 (80-75-71) to help the Aggies capture the team title… Shot his first career under-par round with his 1-under 71 at the UCSD Invite… The fall portion of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic… Earned academic all-MW honors.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at K12 International School, graduating in 2020 with a GPA of 3.7… Placed first in the Torneo Juvenil CC Pereira in Colombia, South America, with a 54-hole score of 4-over 221 (76-75-69)… Tied for eighth at 7-under 209 (70-70-69) at the San Diego Junior Amateur and tied for 10th at even-par 216 (72-74-70) at the FCG National Championship.
PERSONAL: Son of Javier Vazquez and Laura Orvananos… Has two brothers and one sister… Majoring in international business.
