2023-24 SEASON (JR): Appeared in two tournaments, playing six rounds… On the team, ranked first in rounds over par (3), tied for fourth in top-20 finishes (1), sixth in rounds at par or better (3) and tied for seventh in rounds in the 60s (1)... Had a career-best stroke average of 72.17 on the season, shooting 74.50 in the first round, 69.50 in the second round and 72.50 in the third round… Shot a season-best 54-hole score of 4-under 212 (73-68-71) with a career-best low round of 68 on his way to tying for 12th in the Monterrey Collegiate Classic at Club Campestre Monterrey in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Mexico… Shot a 54-hole score of 5-over 221 (76-71-74) as he tied for 87th in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona… Recorded one top-20 finish and shot three rounds under par… Earned Academic All-Mountain West and MW Scholar-Athlete honors... Helped USU receive the All-Academic Team Award from the Golf Coaches Association of American.
2022-23 SEASON (SO): Competed in eight of Utah State’s 10 tournaments, playing 22 rounds… Had a career-best stroke average of 74.27, including averaging 73.88 in the first round, 74.63 in the second round and 74.33 in the third round… Ranked third on the team in both pars (236) and birdies (59), and tied for fourth in eagles (1)… Tied for 46th at the Mountain West Championships as he shot a 9-over 225 (73-81-71) on the Catalina Course at the OMNI Tucson National Resort in Tucson, Arizona… Led the Aggies at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational as he tied for 25th with a career-best 54-hole score of 3-over 213 (72-70-71) at the par-70, 7,106-yard Boulder Country Club in Boulder, Colorado… The 2-under 70 in the second round proved to be a career-best 18-hole score… Finished with a personal-best 10 birdies at the CU Invitational… Recorded the best finish of his career by tying for 19th (2-over 218) at the CSUN Bill Cullum Invitational at The Oaks Club at Valencia in Valencia, California… Had a personal-best-tying 2-under 70 in the first round of both the Bill Cullum Invite and UC San Diego Invitational on the North Course of Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California… Also tied for 19th (6-over 150) at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational at the Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, California… Tied for first in a field of 66 with one eagle at the UCSB Invite… Notched two top-20 finishes and recorded four rounds under par... Garnered College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, Academic All-MW and MW Scholar-Athlete honors.
2021-22 SEASON (FR): Competed in six of Utah State’s nine tournaments, playing 17 rounds… Had a stroke average of 77.06, including an average of 77.83 in his first round, 76.83 in the second round and 76.40 in the third round… Ranked fifth on the team in pars (165) and sixth in birdies (38), including a season-high 12 at the Southern Utah-hosted Pizza Hut-Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational… Played in the first two rounds of the Mountain West Championship, carding a 2-over 74 in the first round and a 5-over 77 in the second round, on the Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington… Best finish of the season was at the Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah, where he tied for 38th with a season-low 54-hole score of 4-over 220 (73-75-72)… Made his collegiate debut at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Golf Club (Blue Course) in USAFA, Colorado, finishing 93rd at 18-over 234… Earned Academic All-MW and MW Scholar-Athlete honors.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), where he graduated with a 3.0 GPA… Was the regional ranking champion and held the seventh-best national ranking spot in 2019-20… Placed second in a national event with a round of 69.
PERSONAL: Son of Adolfo Cantú and Magda Chapa… Has two siblings… Graduated from Utah State in the spring of 2025 with his bachelor's degree in finance.
