2020 (JR)
Indoor: Earned first-team all-Mountain West honors after tying for third in the high jump with a mark of 2.06 meters (6-9.00) at the Indoor Championships, where he also finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.43… Ran career-best time of 8.13 in the 60-meter hurdles, which is tied for ninth all-time in school history, at the New Mexico-hosted Don Kirby Elite Invitational… Earned his first MW Field Athlete of the Week honor following his performance at the Boise State-hosted Jackson’s/Nike Boise Indoor Invitational, where he placed first in the high jump with a mark of 2.06 meters (6-9.00)… Named the MW Field Athlete of the Week the following weekend as he had a season-high mark of 2.08 meters (6-9.75) in the high jump to place seventh – the best finish by an athlete from the conference – at the New Mexico-hosted Don Kirby Elite Invitational… Earned academic all-MW and USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete honors.
Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2019 (SO)
Indoor: Earned first-team all-Mountain West honors after placing first in the high jump with a personal-best leap of 2.18 meters (7-1.75), which is tied for fourth all-time in school history, at the Indoor Championships… Also placed first in the high jump with a height of 2.14 meters (7-0.25) at his only other meet of the season, the Boise State-hosted Jackson’s/Nike Boise Indoor Invitational.
Outdoor: Tied for 38th in the high jump with a height of 2.01 meters (6-7) at the NCAA Outdoor West Prelims… Earned first-team all-Mountain West honors after placing second in the high jump with a mark of 2.06 meters (6-9) at the Outdoor Championships… Finished third in the high jump with a personal-best height of 2.14 meters (7-0.25), which is tied for seventh all-time in school history, at the BYU-hosted Clarence Robison Invitational… Earned academic all-MW honors.

2018 (FR)
Indoor: Earned first-team all-Mountain West honors after placing third in the high jump with a season-best leap of 2.12 meters (6-11.50) at the Indoor Championships… Finished third in the long jump (career-best 6.69 meters/21-11.50), fourth in the 4x400-meter relay (career-best 3:28.16) and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (career-best 8.37 seconds) at the Boise State-hosted Ed Jacoby Invitational.
Outdoor: Tied for sixth in the high jump with a mark of 2.03 meters (6-8) at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships… Captured first place in the high jump with a season-best leap of 2.05 meters (6-8.75) at the UC Irvine-hosted Spring Collegiate Classic… Matched his season-best mark in the high jump two weeks later at the Texas Relays, where he tied for eighth… Set career-best marks of 6.60 meters (21-8) in the long jump and 10.41 meters (34-2) in the shot put at the Utah/Weber State-hosted Spring Classic, where he placed 11th and 17th in each event, respectively… Competed in the 110-meter hurdles once, finishing in 15.05 to place 11th at the Bobcat Invitational… Also captured 11th place in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 40.39 meters (132-6) at the Utah State-hosted Mark Faldmo Invitational.

HIGH SCHOOL: A three-year letterwinner at Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah, as a jumper and hurdler… As a senior, recorded career-bests of 6-10 in the high jump, 22-5 in the long jump and 14.79 in the 110-meter hurdles… Was a region champion in 2015 and a district champion in 2016… Helped lead the Darts to state championships in 2015 and 2016… Also earned three letters as a swimmer, recording career-best marks of 50.7 in the 100-meter freestyle, 57.8 in the 100-meter backstroke and 23.1 in the 50-meter freestyle.

PERSONAL: Son of Spencer and Barbara Simonsen… Has three brothers… Served an LDS Church Mission in Arequipa, Peru… Majoring in human movement science.
