Abby Hood

Abby Hood is in her first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Utah State gymnastics program.

Hood will assist Utah State associate head coach Erik Lewis on floor, assist head coach Amy Smith with choreography, and work on performance quality of routines, among other day-to-day operations with the program.

Hood arrives in Logan after working as one of the head optional coaches and choreographers for the girls program at Achievers Gymnastics Center in her hometown of Denton, Texas.

The daughter of John and Christy Milliet graduated from Auburn in 2019 with a degree in marketing. During her time with the Tigers, Hood made the SEC Academic Honor Roll on two occasions, was a 2018 WCGA Scholastic All-American and was named to the all-SEC Team and Freshman all-SEC Team in 2015.

In Hood’s final season at Auburn, the Tigers finished 2019 ranked 16th in the nation as the squad narrowly missed a share of the regular season SEC title, finishing with a 5-2 record in the league for sole possession of second place – the highest regular season finish in program history. She capped her successful career by going 34-for-35 on her routines.

During her junior campaign in 2018, Hood led the team on beam with seven event titles, including a share of the title at the 2018 NCAA Salt Lake City Regional. Her finish advanced her to the NCAA Championships, where she closed out the season with a 9.85 on the event.

Hood, who is married to Utah State assistant gymnastics coach Stephen Hood, recorded career-high scores of 9.600 on vault, 9.950 on bars, 9.950 on beam, 9.950 on floor and 38.700 in the all-around.
