Carter Young joined Utah State as deputy athletics director and chief revenue officer in November 2025 after four years at the University of Tennessee, where he most recently served as assistant athletics director of development for major gifts. In that role, he led a team of four major gift officers and oversaw efforts to identify, cultivate and secure philanthropic support for Tennessee Athletics. During his tenure, the Tennessee Fund recorded four consecutive years of record-setting fundraising success.
Carter personally secured more than $23 million in philanthropic gifts and closed 140 major gifts. In collaboration with the Vol Network, he also helped secure two sponsorship agreements totaling $3.5 million in support of Tennessee Athletics.
Before his time on Rocky Top, Young spent three years at the University of Arizona as assistant director of development, overseeing operations and donor benefit fulfillment.
Young began his career at the University of Central Florida as a graduate assistant for championship resources and The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport.
A Salt Lake City native, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Utah and both a Master of Business Administration and a master’s in sport business management from the University of Central Florida.
Young is married to his wife, Megan, and together they have a son, McCoy, and a dog, Finn.
