Josh Hartvigsen, a former long jumper and sprinter for the Aggies, is in his first year as assistant coach and operations assistant for Utah State's track & field and cross country programs.

Hartvigsen joined the Aggies’ coaching staff after an accomplished four-year career as a member of USU’s track & field team. Hartvigsen represented the Aggies at seven Mountain West Championships during his career, earning top-eight finishes in the long jump at the 2022 indoor and 2025 outdoor championships and helping USU to sixth-place finishes in the 4x100-meter relay at the 2023 and 2024 outdoor championships. He is tied for eighth place in USU history in the outdoor long jump, clearing 7.44 meters (24-5) at the 2025 Aggie Invitational.
 
Off the track, Hartvigsen was named to the 2025 All-Mountain West Community Service Team. He served as co-president of USU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), accumulating over 70 community service and development hours during his term. Academically, Hartvigsen earned Academic All-Mountain West, Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and USU Whitesides Scholar-Athlete honors every year from 2022-25.
 
Hartvigsen earned his bachelor’s degree in nutrition science from Utah State in 2025. He served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Gilbert, Arizona, from 2019-2021. The native of Salt Lake City, Utah, married fellow Utah State track & field athlete Alison Richter in June 2024.
