LOGAN, Utah - - Behind a trio of goals in the first half Cal State Fullerton shutout Utah State's women's soccer team 3-0 Friday afternnon. USU falls to 3-8 overall (1-1 in conference) and CSUF moves to 7-8 on the year (3-2 in conference).
"We played hard for 90 minutes," said head coach Stacey Enos. "We have to work on finishing and getting in the near post. We had too many lost oppurtunites."
The Aggies came out aggressive in the first half but could only contain the Titans for the first 20 minutes of play as Cal State Fullerton scored its first goal at the 21:29 mark when sophomore Lindsey Glick found the net from 15 yards out. CSUF turned around and scored again less then two minutes later as freshman Nadia Hernandez headed in a shot off a corner kick from senior Monica Reade at 23:10. Fullerton freshman Brook Braunschweig led the Titans into the half as she scored the third and final goal of the period from 10 feet out off a pass from junior Tennli Ulicny at 36:57.
In the second half the Aggies outshot the Titans eight to two, but USU could not convert its efforts and remained scoreless in the final 45 minutes of play.
Utah State continues conference play Sun., Oct. 15 when it hosts UC Irvine at noon.
