Utah State Soccer Shutout by UCSB

LOGAN, Utah - - Utah State's women's soccer team extended it's losing streak to five games as it was shutout 2-0 by UC Santa Barbara Friday night. The loss drops USU to 3-10 on the year (1-3 in conference) and Santa Barbara moved to 7-8-1 overall (2-3 in conference).

UC Santa Barbara came out fast and furious, pressuring the Aggie defense and outshooting USU 10-2 in the first half. UCSB nearly scored twice in the first half but each shot was deflected off the goal post and the teams remained scoreless after 45 minutes of play.

In the 66th minute the Gauchos broke open the evenings scoring as junior Tiffany Dawson scored off a deflection from Meghann Phillips. UCSB tacked on its final goal at 86:30 when Sondra Williamson found the net off a pass from Kathryn Fox. On the day Utah State got off five shots to UCSB's 16, and junior goalkeeper Tracy Brady recorded four saves.

Utah State will remain on the road as it heads north to San Luis Obispo, California to take on Cal Poly Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m.
