USU Men's Tennis Closes Out Season

OJAI, Calif. - Utah State's men's tennis team concluded its 2000 season Friday at Big West Championships with a loss to Boise State 4-0. The Aggies ended the year with an 2-2 record in conference and an overall record of 6-13.

The Aggies were not able to finish all nine matches of the contest as Big West Officials ended the match at 4-0. In men's tennis the total possible number of points tallied is seven and with Boise State jumping to a 4-0 lead officials stopped play due to there were only three possible points remaining.

The Aggies' Ryan Burbidge was the only USU player to post an .500 or better record this year finishing 11-9.

Burbidge is also one of two Aggie players to finish the season with ten or more wins. Burbidge winning eleven singles matches and Tim Burrell winning twelve singles matches to lead all Aggies.

USU seeded number nine in Big West Championships opened tournament play Thursday with a victory over number eight Idaho 4-3. Burbidge won his seventh match in his last ten matches to help advance the Aggies to the next round.
