Aggie Men Netters Drop Season Opener

POCATELLO, Idaho - Ryan Burbidge and Dan Baird each recorded individual victories, but it wasn't enough as Utah State's men's tennis team opened the 2001 season with a 5-2 loss at Idaho State on Wednesday. USU fell to 0-1 while ISU improved to 1-0.

Burbidge won a three-set match at number four singles, while Baird also needed three sets for his win at number six singles. Two Aggies fell in three sets, including Tim Burrell at number three and Tad Hinze at number five. USU's Jonah Nelson teamed with Burrell to win the number two doubles match.

The Aggies will play their second match of the season when they travel to Utah on Saturday, Jan. 27 for a 5 p.m. meeting with the Utes. USU's women's team will host Colorado State on Thursday, Jan. 25 at the Sports Academy at 1:30 p.m.
