UTAH STATE SOCCER FALLS TO UC SANTA BARBARA
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- Utah State's women's soccer team saw its two-game winning streak come to an end as the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos shut out the Aggies 1-0 Friday night. USU now holds a 5-7-1 record, 2-3 in Big West Conference action. With the win, the Gauchos improved to 6-6-1, 2-1.
UCSB's Erin Griswold scored the only goal of the match 20 minutes into the game, assisted by Krystal Sandea and Kathryn Fox.
The contest was evenly matched, as USU took 11 shots and the Gauchos took 12. USU had more shots on goal, as UCSB goalkeeper, Mary Gleason, recorded six saves, four more than Aggie Tracy Brady. UC Santa Barbara earned three cornerkicks, while the Aggies earned two. USU's Amber Tracy posted a team-high five shots. Brigid Turner, Kennon Roeber, Katie Karlson, Sara Cowley, Claire Schend and Brittany Baugh were each held to just one shot.
The Aggies will play their final road game of the season this Sunday at Cal Poly at 2 p.m. The Mustangs bring a 4-7-3 record into Sunday's match-up, having defeated Idaho 3-1 on Friday.
