LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Bryan Jackson recovered a fumble with 1:19 left as Utah State held off Central Florida 30-27 on Saturday.
The Golden Knights (4-4) were marching toward the end zone behind catches by Jimmy Fryzel and Tavirus Davis when fullback Sean Gaudion was hit by safety Jamar Glasper. Jackson recovered the ball and Utah State (2-5) ran out the clock.
Earlier in the fourth quarter, backup running back David Fiefia scored on a strong 16-yard run, just one play after Aggies safety Derrek Shank picked off a tipped pass and made a 12-yard return.
Fiefia took over the backfield duties for Utah State after senior Emmett White went down with an ankle injury with 13:45 left in the game.
White came into the game leading the nation in all-purpose yardage with a 206.3 average, but his third fumble of the game led to a 38-yard UCF field goal that tied it at 17 with 7 minutes remaining in the third quarter. White finished with 61 yards rushing on 16 carries and 83 yards receiving.
Utah State's Dane Kidman kicked field goals of 31, 32 and 37 yards. The game was tied at 20 early in the final quarter after UCF's Javier Beorlegui kicked a 43-yard field goal.
