LGOAN, Utah - Utah State's women's soccer team was defeated by Utah 2-0 Thursday afternoon. The loss drops the Aggies' record to 6-10-1. With the win, the Utes extended their winning streak to four games and improved to 10-5-0 on the season.

Amy Kofoed scored first for Utah 10 minutes into the game. Three minutes into the second half, Shauna Gurr-Bingham, Utah's leader in goals, knocked in the second, and final, goal.

Utah State managed to take nine shots, while the Utes took 17. Ute goalies Lynnsey Asay and Courtney Hills split time at the net, with each recording two saves. Aggie goalkeeper Tracy Brady notched seven saves. Junior Brigid Turner took a team-high four shots, senior Becky Ward took two, and Michelle Eversman, Kennon Roeber and Brittany Baugh took one a piece.

Head coach Jen Kennedy Croft said she would have liked to have won, but is not disppointed in how the team played.

"I feel like we played the best game we could play," Croft said. "We played 90 minutes today and that's what I want of them. You obviously play to win, but these girls played their hearts out."

Croft said she was pleased that the team did not get discouraged after Utah scored first.

"We really stayed in it," Croft said. "They didn't put their heads down (after Utah scored). That's the first time this year that we have not been affected by the opponent scoring first, and I'm very pleased about that."

The Aggies will face their final opponent of the 2001 season in Idaho on Sunday at noon. Idaho comes into the match with an 8-8-3 record, 2-5-1 in Big West Conference action.
