LOGAN, Utah - Mick Dennehy Press Conference Nov. 12, 2001
On the University of Connecticut "The win was a very good win. I am not completely happy with how we played at time in order to get the win, but we did accomplish the most important thing and won the football game. I think things went down hill a little bit once we took Emmett White out to get him a little rest. I thought the University of Connecticut did a great job of hanging in there. They made some plays that forced us to get our heads back into the game. We accumulated some penalties that allowed them to stay in the game. That was a little bit disappointing, having the chance to put them away and not getting it done. But give them credit, they battled back and did a great job."
"I was really pleased with our defense, the way they came in the last two possessions and kept them out of the end zone. We did what we had to do. It is giving us some things that we have identified that we need to emphasize and stress. We will hopefully get those things covered and become a better football this week against Weber State. I do not want to diminish the excitement I have for us going on the road for the first time since early September and coming out with a win."
On the Injuries "We got out of the game relatively healthy. Tony Walker is a little bit of a concern. He has a deep bruise on his chest. Derrek Shank has some stiffness and some soreness in his shoulder. But aside from that, we came out of there pretty healthy. Hopefully, we will have Ryan Duncan back this week. I would guess he will start practicing a little bit even today (Monday). We should be back as close to full strength as we possibly could be at this point in time, which is very encouraging."
On Weber State "Weber State is a very good football team. They have a tremendous running back. I think their running game allows them to be very effective as far is throwing the football is concerned. They have really nice balance in their offense and a typical Graybeal team defensively. I think they are very well coached and very aggressive. I would expect, with this being the final game of their season, they will treat this like a playoff game. And I do not think we can treat it lightly by any stretch of the imagination. We are going to treat this as a very big game. It is our last home game with this group of seniors. This group of guys have done a wonderful job in terms of setting an example for the younger players in our program and we certainly want to send them off with our best effort of the season."
