LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Desmond Penigar scored a career-high 34 points and Tony Brown added 20 points and 10 assists, leading Utah State to a 90-81 overtime victory over BYU on Saturday night.
The win stretched Utah State's homecourt winning streak to 25 games, improved fourth-year coach Stew Morrill's record to 75-25 with the Aggies (4-0) and broke a three-game losing streak to BYU (2-2).
It also marked the first time since the 1985-86 season that Utah State has beaten instate rivals Utah and BYU in the same year. The Aggies beat the Utes last month in Salt Lake City.
Travis Hansen scored a career-high 26 points for BYU and Mark Bigelow had 21 before fouling out.
The Cougars led 80-79 in overtime after Hansen's third 3-pointer of the night, but Utah State outscored BYU 11-1 over the final 3{ minutes. Brown had six free throws and two assists over that stretch.
