LOGAN, Utah - After posting a 20-11 record and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Volleyball tournament, Utah State finished the year ranked 21st in the country according to the final USA Today/AVCA top-25 coaches poll.
"We are very pleased with the year that we had advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament," said head coach Burt Fuller. "I felt that our players trained and competed very well and this ranking is a testament to their efforts. With the great group of returning players and the solid core of incoming freshmen, we look forward to continuing the high level of play that has been established over recent years."
Utah State won three matches on the season over top-25 opponents as the Aggies defeated then No. 12 ranked Pacific at home in five games and followed that by defeating then No. 13 ranked BYU on the road in three games, as well as defeating the Cougars, who were ranked 19th at the time, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Utah State will return three starters and nine letterwinners to next year's team including honorable mention all-Big West middle blocker Erin Cartwright.
