Utah State's men's tennis team won its third match of the season by defeating Weber State today by a final score of 6-1. The Aggies improved to 3-5 on the season with the win.
"Out of all the schools we play, Weber State is one of our biggest rivals and they are always a good team," commented USU head coach Christian Wright. "Both teams are pretty evenly matched we just seemed to fight a little harder. This team really wanted to come back and have a solid performance after losing a close match to Idaho."
Utah State got off to a good start in the match by winning two of the three doubles matches to notch the first point of the contest. The Aggies then won its first three singles matches to race out to a 4-0 lead before Weber State got on the board by winning the fourth match. USU responded by claiming the final two matches of the meet.
Individual winners for Utah State were Andy Madersbacher, Jonah N elson, Tim Burrell, Tad Hinze, and Dan Baird. Nelson teamed up with Burrell to win the number two doubles match, while Baird and Ryan Burbidge won the number three doubles match.
The Aggies will return to action on Thursday, Mar. 1 when they host Montana State at 1:30 p.m. at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club in Logan, Utah.
