OGDEN, Utah - The Utah State Aggie men's and women's tennis teams opened their fall preseason with nine victories in the first day of the two-day Weber State Invitational.

Senior Andy Madersbacher, who last year received all-Big West 2nd team honors, won in singles action against Daniel Salvato 6-4, 6-3. In addition, Madersbacher and doubles partner Jordan Butler defeated Novaceanu/Ivanov, 8-3. Three other Aggie men -- Jordan Butler, Jason Trask and Jonah Nelson -- were successful in singles play. Nelson and Tadd Hinze were also victorious in doubles play, 8-4.

In women's singles action, Tracy Bertagna defeated Chelsee Drews of Weber State, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Caroline Pollock also posted a victory over Briana Beauchene, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. In women's doubles, Richelle Ferguson and Jocee Bergeson defeated their Wildcat opponents, 8-2.

The second day of action begins Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9 a.m.
