After winning nearly half of their matches at the Pepsi-Wildcat Invitational at Weber State University Friday, the Utah State tennis teams struggled on the second day of competition, winning just one match of the 11 the teams played.
In men's singles action, Jordan Butler picked up the Aggies' lone win on the day, defeating Weber State's Victor Blocher, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6. In doubles play, Butler and Andy Madersbacher, who defeated WSU's Andrei Novaceanu and Philip Ivanov on Friday, lost to WSU's Daniel Salvato and Kenny Lindley Saturday, 8-5. USU's Clayton Thomas and Jason Trask lost to Novaceanu and Ivanov Saturday, also by a score of 8-5.
Tracy Bertagna lost to Briana Beauchene in women's singles play, 6-0, 6-2, after defeating WSU's Chelsee Drews Friday in three sets.
The Aggie women's doubles pairs were swept, as BYU's Dominique Reynolds and Liza Khoudoiarova and WSU's Therian Steenkamp and Dana DeLancey defeated Sarah Lowe and Carolina Pollack by identical match scores of 8-3. Also, WSU's Tara Rosenzweig and Drews beat Amy Thatcher and Haley Hawkins, 8-3.
